Facebook will not allow installation of applications on Huawei smartphones as reported by Reuters news agency. This is the latest example of Western technology companies that have begun to break the relationship with China’s telecommunications giant after Trump’s administration put it on the blacklist of trade.

Actual Huawei’s phone owners can still download and use WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook apps and will receive ongoing updates through the Play Store.

However, Huawei can no longer include apps on new phones when they go on sale in stores.

Huawei’s phones and those in stores will have Facebook apps as well as Google services. But Facebook will deny installing applications on phones that have not yet come out of the factory.

However, the news is not as problematic as Google and ARM’s decisions limiting the company’s Android and the ability to develop its chips. It’s a blow to Huawei’s plans to build an app store beyond the Google Play Store.
