Apple stops selling iPhone 7 and 8 in Germany after losing the trial against Qualcomm

The decision said that these two models of iPhone are violating Qualcomm’s intellectual property rights in connection with energy savings in smartphones, reports TechCrunch.

While the verdict was made last month, Qualcomm was asked by the court to send 1.34 billion euros in security bills before it was implemented, which is now happening. A quick check on Apple‘s German site confirms the change: only the newest models of the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max are listed; iPhone 7 and 8 can not be found anywhere.

Apple has already said it plans to appeal the decision, but as this process takes place, it will not be able to sell the iPhone 7 or 8 on its retail channels.

The ban on Germany is the latest escalation of ongoing disputes between Apple and Qualcomm, which began when Apple first accused Qualcomm of setting unfair prices for their modem processors in 2017.

Qualcomm responded with a series of claims, across the globe. Apple is also facing a similar situation in China where Qualcomm has also won a sales ban on patent infringement issues.

In this case, Apple has not revoke their products and claims that the issue was only present on older devices.

The new Apple iPhone 11 may come with a very distinctive display, as it may be the same screen used by the folding Samsung Galaxy X. But does this mean that the iPhone 11 will be a fordable smartphone ?

The key issue here is that industry sources have noted that Apple may buy Samsung OLED Flexible screens. The flexible and foldable screen are not the same.

While the screen may be able to fold, it does not necessarily have to be used for this purpose, it can simply be a way to provide a better palette on the edges for a smaller frame or curved corners.

What suggests the news is that Apple intends to make a difference in the design of the screen for the next big step forward on iPhone 11.

The main feature of this screen, in addition to flexibility, is the inclusion of touch sensitivity. This means that the touch sensors are built on the screen so that another layer is not required.

Seeking components that provide more efficient use of space, it seems like Apple is working on improving other areas. This may mean a larger battery, a larger camera sensor or more cameras, or even a new sensor completely.

The new component can also represent a cost savings for Apple. So this can mean a more affordable OLED iPhone.

New data shows that new iPhones are being sold less than past models

There have been various allegations suggesting that Apple’s new iPhone 2018, iPhone XR, Xs and Xs Max are not selling as well as Apple and their target customers have targeted.Given that Apple does not plan to divide the sales figures of iPhone, it can not be known 100% of the units sold.

However, according to the latest data from the Mixpanel (via 9to5Mac), iPhone’s poor sales reports prove to be true.

As you can see in the graph above, the main graphs belong to iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X, while the latter three are those of the iPhone Xs, Xs Max and XR.

The market-adjusted difference is clear and the gap is quite large. This becomes more apparent when comparing iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X with iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, where it can be seen that iPhone X actually reaches iPhone 2016 in terms of adoption.

2018 iPhones have been on sale for only 2-3 months and judging by the growing trend in the chart, it is highly likely that market adaptation will increase but if it could overtake last year’s models it is still unclear.

Apple starts selling refurbished models of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

Not long after launching their new iPhones, Apple has now started selling refurbished units of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

These certified models are available for purchase for the first time in the company’s online shop. Both models can be purchased with 64GB storage configuration in multiple color options.

Consumers can save some money in the process if they decide to get a certified refurbished unit. This is one of the main reasons why people decide to buy refurbished units first.

They are about 15 percent lower than the full retail price. Renovated units begin with $499 for iPhone 8 and $599 for iPhone 8 Plus.

Apple’s refurbished units receive their certification after being passed through a strict process. The company also provides original add-on products with models, in addition to a one-year warranty.

Those who are interested in getting a device can go to Apple’s online store and get a renovated iPhone or iPhone 8 Plus model.

Yesterday, Apple developed their launch event in New York, debuting a new MacBook Air, iPad Pro and Mac mini. Along with the presentation, the company also distributed new promotional videos for each of its products, which can now be found on the company’s YouTube site.

For most of their new products, Apple has two videos, one being a promotional video, the other one introducing the product, giving details of design, construction, and specifications. The latest MacBook Air gets an up-to-date Retina display and Intel 8th generation processor.

The Mac mini makes its debut by offering a similar design to previous models, but updates the inside with Intel’s 8th generation processors, more RAM, and SSD space. Since it has more power, Apple has used a new ventilation system that will keep things fresh.

Those who need ports will have many of them, with a PC offering four USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports and two USB 3 ports.

Last but not least, the iPad Pro of Apple comes with a new design that removes the physical button home and gives more screen saver users.

Apple launches the new MacBook Air, it costs $1,200

After weeks of rumors and leaks, Apple officially launched a new MacBook Air during the October 30 event in Brooklyn, New York. Apple‘s latest laptop can be ordered today and will be sent on November 7th for $ 1,200.

On the surface, the new MacBook Air looks much like the MacBook Pro with dimmed frames, powerful loudspeakers and a dull profile. The new design has frames 50 percent much more and four times more screen resolution, with a total of 4 million pixels. The device is also 17 percent lighter than its predecessor.

Key features on the new MacBook Air board include a 13.3-inch retina display, two USB-C Thunderbolt cables and a Touch ID – all carried by the MacBook Pro and MacBook 12 inches.

Similar to previous generations, Apple promised 12 hours of battery life for cable free browsing and 13 hours of movies on iTunes. The company also noted that the loudspeakers on the MacBook Air board are 25 percent stronger than the previous model.

Apple brings new iPad and Mac models on October 30th

While Apple may have refreshed some of their products, such as MacBook Pro and iPhone, there are still some products Apple has not yet updated. This includes iPad Pro, MacBook Air, 12-inch MacBook and iMac.

Many of the company fans expected these devices to be announced this month and it seems as if Apple finally confirmed the news.

The company has announced that it will host an event on October 30 in Brooklyn which will also be broadcast live.

Apple did not mention what it would launch, but given that in the past we’ve seen how some updates to products have been done without much promotion, it’s safe to say that Apple might have more to announce this round.

There is speculation that Apple‘s event will introduce the new iPad Pro that will come with Face ID, a new design and a new magnetic connector. There was also rumor about a cheaper MacBook.

Apple buys Shazam. The app will be without ads

The company confirmed that it was buying Shazam and its development team for $ 400 million last December. The purchase was temporarily suspended because of a European Union investigation, but everything was formalized in September this year

Apple has announced it will remove all ads from the application soon, a very good news for the users.

Shazam has been downloaded over 1 billion times and has been used over 20 million times every day, according to Apple‘s press release. The application has been available since the beginnings of the App Store and was one of the earliest demos of what a mobile app could do.
