Microsoft is releasing the first May 2020 major update to Windows 10

Known as Windows 10 Version 2004, this update brings some new features to Microsoft’s desktop operating system

After almost a year and a half of testing, Windows 10’s May 2020 update is available for download. Coded Windows 10 Version 2004, this update brings some new features to Microsoft’s desktop operating system.

Most notable is a new File Explorer, but it can’t be left without mentioning the improved search functionality, support for passwordless connection, and a new Cortana experience.

But the most important at least in our eyes is the Cloud Download option. This option makes Windows 10 reset much easier to a previous configuration. Virtual desktops and DirectX 12 Ultimate have been improved.

To download the new update you need to check if it has been made available to you in Windows Update. Visit Windows Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update> Check for Updates. If it is ready for download you will notice a message “Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004” to appear in the optional updates. Just click “Download and install now” to proceed with its installation.

It will not be available to everyone at the same time and may arrive in a few weeks. Using the Update Assistant you can force the installation of the update before it appears in Windows Update.

We advise you to avoid updating as Windows 10 updates in recent months have had problems that have cost users dearly. Microsoft uses the update phase to address the issues that appear in the first users, thus avoiding a catastrophe for the entire Windows 10 user base that exceeds 900 million.

The next major update to Windows 10 will come in the second half of 2020 and will focus on security updates and minor adjustments instead of new features.

After Developer Preview of Android 11, we now know more of what to expect specifically from the latest version of the operating system. It is not yet advisable to install it on a smartphone as it is still very unstable. However, it is not bad to learn what innovations we will enjoy after the update officially arrives.

So, here’s what to expect from Android 11

Screen recorder Google has been playing with this feature for some time and an icon is already present in the Quick Settings window. This time we expect a finalized version with even more specific options.
Chat bubbles: More or less like Messenger, the chat circles with another contact which float across the screen over any application will be available for all chat programs. Telegram and WhatsApp work best with it.
Menu distribution: The distribution window will allow you to select 4 favorite apps. So when you want to share something you won’t have to waste time with other apps. Also the most frequent contacts.

Stop notifications during registration: When you are taking a picture or video, the sound or vibration of a message can be annoying. Android 11 will allow you to restrict both.
Airplane Mode no longer shuts down Bluetooth: Up to Android 10, the Airplane mode also turned off Bluetooth, at 11 this will no longer be a problem. It can be used without restrictions even when the waves are closed.
Notification story: Android does not allow you to view notifications once you have removed them. The new system will allow you to see them all in the new notification history option.
Removal of permissions for unused applications: In the “App Permissions” section of each application, a new function will be found, which will deny all the permissions given for accessing that application. If an app has received your authorization for location, photos, or other data, if you have not used it for a long time you may deny this right.

One-time permission: Android 10 allows apps to retrieve your location data, microphone, or camera only when open. Now with Android 11 you will be able to give them permission only once and then the system will take away their right.
Support for curved screens: The latter are a trend among Android devices, developers will now have the opportunity to better manage these spaces by defining them as interactive areas.
New technology: Android 11 will be better suited to folding devices technologies and 5G. It will also include low-latency video decoding for gaming services such as Google Stadia.
Windows inside windows: Multitasking has always been a priority and feature of Android and this time the small window will be able to be enlarged or reduced more easily. Just like on a PC, just grab one of the 4 corners of the window and redefine it.

Facebook creates a version of Messenger Rooms for business companies

Called Workplace Rooms, the new service can host videos and conversations of up to 50 people simultaneously

Last week Facebook introduced Messenger Rooms, a video chat service and a potential competitor to Zoom. The social network will now bring this service to the Workplace platform, which is Facebook’s alternative to Slack.

There is no limit on how long the meetings should be and you should not be part of the Workplace to join a conversation. Workplace users can create a video call through a link in Workplace Chat, Groups, News Feed, or Portal and share it in a chat, email, post or SMS.

The creators of a video call can block the entry of others in the group, remove participants while the latter has the opportunity to share the computer screen during the conversation.

The Facebook movement pushes the social network into a direct competition with Zoom. It’s also a blow to Slack that last month added the Microsoft Teams video calling option.

According to Facebook, Workplace had 5 million paid users, an increase of 2 million since October 2019. As with any other video-conferencing service, Workplace Rooms must gain the trust of users before they fall prey to privacy scandals as in the case of Zoom.

In Messenger you can find it by pressing the smiley button then that of the sticker. Apparently it currently only works on the mobile app. But luckily if you create it on mobile you will have it in the browser later.
