The Taiwanese phone maker describes it as a “phone experience for a modern user and new era on the Internet,” and accordingly, the device is available for purchase only using Bitcoin or Ethereum.

“It’s been 10 years since the launch of the first Android phone from HTC and almost 10 years since the beginning of Bitcoin,” said Phil Chen, director of HTC.

“Exodus 1 is a basic element of the cryptic internet. For digital activities and decentralized applications to be able to reach their potential, we believe that phones should be the main distribution point. “

The smartphone will look and function like many other premium phones, with a 6-inch Quad HD display, a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a powerful Snapdragon 845 processor.

However, it will also include a “secure enclave” that is separate from the Android operating system, where cryptransferment can be safely stored.

Exodus 1 will also support decentralized, blockchain-based applications, which the firm hopes to assist in “internet reshape”.
