The function can be activated from the Settings menu and the speed will be shown in the left corner during a car journey.
The feature is just one of the few Google has decided to import from Waze to Google Maps. Waze is an app that Google bought in 2013.
For Three Months the Maps application reports speed limits, even incidents that let drivers know about accidents, police patrols, and speed cameras.
However, the new feature appears to be unavailable anywhere. Currently, only users in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, India, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Taiwan, Britain and the US have access.
Google says speed limits are only offered for informational purposes.
