For those who was not able to buy it, Mate X will begin their second phone sales on November 22. The Mate X’s 5G model has a 20.3cm screen diagonally when open.

Huawei said the phone is being sold in limited units but did not give an exact figure how much has sold. Samsung, Xiaomi and Motorola have also introduced their phones with folding screens.

Other manufacturers like Apple and Google are experimenting. Huawei’s phone was due to go on sale in June, but the debut was delayed after US sanctions. The phone is currently only sold in China, and Huawei has not said whether it will be offered elsewhere.

Mate X is a phone with a Kirin 980 processor and 5G Balong 5000 modem. The phone has a massive 4,500 mAh battery and can be charged at 85% in an half hour through 55W charging.

When opened the screen has an 8-inch diagonal size, closed a 6.6-inch front screen and an 6.38-inch rear screen.

Unlike the Galaxy Fold that opens like a book, the Mate X‘s screen folds out. As a result it’s a more conventional phone than the Galaxy Fold but the plastic-coated screen will question its longevity.

The phone will go on sale from November 15 for $2,400 for the 8GB RAM and 512GB of memory. Currently the phone will be sold only in China while a global launch is being reviewed.

Huawei said it has sold 200 million smartphones since the beginning of the year to date, reaching the target 64 days before it did last year.

Huawei Mate X launch delay has been made to advance the processor and camera

Huawei Mate X launch delay has been made to advance the processor and camera

The launch of the Huawei Mate X – the company’s first foldable phone – has been postponed again and would not be revealed in September as predicted, but could happen sometime in November.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Neowin has learned that this phone will make big changes whenever it arrives, and not as we have seen before.

Sources close to Huawei have announced that the launch has been delayed to make the processor and camera more advanced and not that this phone has any problems.

As part of the plans, it is the new Huawei Kirin 990 processor, which is not known for specifics, and the camera used in the Huawei P30 Pro, which captures very good photos in low light.

This is still a foldable phone, and it is rumored that the Huawei Mate X will be very good in this line of phones.

Huawei postpones the Mate X debut again

Huawei postpones the Mate X debut again

The company told to TechRadar during an event in China that the launch of Mate X in September was impossible.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

In June when the phone should have arrived, the company said it would launch the phone in September after news that the Galaxy Fold had suffered numerous problems with the folding mechanism.

Huawei’s Mate X will most likely be launched in November with an exact date missing.

TechRadar said Huawei had not provided information on the reasons for the delay. Perhaps the company is trying to avoid a scenario similar to what Samsung experienced with the Galaxy Fold. Or perhaps the company is not sure that ARM and Google will not block technology due to US sanctions.

However the upgraded Galaxy Fold will arrive ahead of the Mate X in the market.

A fourth camera and carbon fiber has been added to the Huawei folding phone

A fourth camera and carbon fiber has been added to the Huawei folding phone

Samsung has made some improvements in the design of Galaxy Fold, which will be released soon and Huawei seems to have done the same with Mate X.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

Chinese journalist Li Wei had managed to catch Richard Yu’s CEO at the airport and even fired some Mate X phone pictures in the current state with the upgrades made. A fourth sensor is added to the back of the phone, which is most likely the TOF (Time-of-Flight) sensor as well as the carbon fiber effects.

Also, a larger button to open the phone has been added, which will make it easier for Mate X to fold and open.

The problems that emerged from the Galaxy Fold’s first foldable models, prompted Huawei to immediately review Mate X, the screen-folding phone of the Chinese company. The latter collapses on the opposite side of Galaxy Fold, so from the outside. Huawei, like Samsung, has said Mate X debuts in September.

Last month it was said that the phone was in the final testing and there is nothing but hope for the problems to be addressed. The phone will come with the stock version of Android and of course with 5G.

Huawei Postpones the Debut of The Mate X Foldable Phone

Huawei Postpones the Debut of The Mate X Foldable Phone

The Chinese giant told CNBC and the Wall Street Journal that it was doing tests to make the device ready for customers and was acting cautiously after news of Samsung Galaxy Fold problems.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

The latter debuted in April but shipments were postpones indefinitely after the devices was broken just a few days of use by media analysts.

The biggest problem for Huawei is not only the sustainability of the phone but also the effects of American sanctions. Because Huawei was placed on the black list, American firms can not sell or license Huawei technology. All this situation has caused great trouble that no company would want it to be. Google has revoked the Android license, while Microsoft is expected to do the same with Windows.

Based on this, it is unknown whether Mate X will come with Android or not. CNBC says Huawei will come up with Android because it was launched before Huawei list it in the blacklist. WSJ says this is being discussed.

An alternative is the launch of phone with Huawei system operation that he has started testing. Mate X was launched in February and was well received by analysts. The 8-inch OLED screen just folds into two. It has 8GB of RAM and 5G technology but costs 2,299 euros.

Galaxy Fold vs. Mate X: How to compare Samsung and Huawei folding screens

Galaxy Fold vs. Mate X: How to compare Samsung and Huawei folding screens

Samsung’s folding screen phone, Galaxy Fold, has finally competed. Huawei introduced his screened mobile phone to MWC 2019 in Barcelona, Mate X.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

Both smartphones are turned into a tablet and have 5G technology. Salty prices make it inaccessible to many of us while the similarities go beyond cost.

Galaxy Fold has a small screen on the outside and large screen on the inside while Mate X has a single screen. The Samsung phone has six cameras and comes with 4G and 5G. Mate X has four cameras and 5G on board.

Folded Galaxy Fold is not flat while Mate X is, thanks to a sophisticated shaft.

The folding screen

Does it fold from inside or outside? Galaxy Fold takes the form of a book thanks to the large screen in the interior. One of the covers also has a screen on it that makes the tablet even like a smartphone.

Huawei has chosen a reverse approach. The screen collapses from the outside and the left frame is fired from the screen. The advantage in this middle is because you have a screen that behaves as three depending on how you keep your phone.

Galaxy Fold Screen

  • 6-inch external
  • 3-inch internal

Mate X Screen

  • 8-inch OLED
  • 6-inch front
  • 38-inch rear

“Notch” or side by side

Galaxy Fold has a “notch” in a sizeable size on the 7.3-inch screen. This space contains two cameras and sensors that have a normal phone or tablet. The 8-inch display of Mate X does not have a “notch” but has a strap on the backside where the cameras line up.

This strap is raised so as to help keep the tablet but also stabilize it when it’s open.

But the durability of the screen? The glass technology has not reached the point where it can be completely folded and not broken. For this Huawei has used polymer on the display panel.

Camera

Samsung has a full set of six cameras in the Galaxy Fold, three on the back, three on the front and one on the cover where the second screen is. This configuration is somewhat confusing because every time you make a photo you need to know which camera to choose.

But how does it compare to the camera of Mate X? At first glance it looks like there are only three but CEO of Huawei Richard Yu said they are four.

4G or 5G

Huawei Mate X comes with a configuration: 5G. In fact, Huawei says it is the world’s fastest-ever foldable phone. Samsung on the other hand has set 4G and 5G.

Price and availability

Affordable folding screen phones are still far off but companies like TCL have begun to work in this regard. You have to allocate at least $2,000 for a Galaxy Fold or Mate X.

  • Galaxy Fold: $1,980, goes on sale on April 26th
  • Mate X: 2,300 euros, is available for sale in June or July

For now, Huawei has announced that Mate X will be on the market with a price of 2,299 euros.
