At three events that took place at the same time, at the Canada, China and Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, this car was presented with the most similarity to the 918 Spider and 919 Hybrid, the triple winner at Le Mans.

Taycan‘s top speed is 216 kilometers per hour, while it can arrives from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.8 seconds, while it can reach 200 kilometers per hour in 9.8 seconds. It can do all this in a row and without losing energy, because he stores it in separate spaces to use it when needed.

The 560 kW engine enables it to produce 750 horsepower, while the maximum torque of the system is 1,050 nm. This capacity has enabled the Porsche Taycan to complete Germany’s Nurburgring run in seven minutes and 42 seconds.

But important is long-distance autonomy. Therefore, this electric car has autonomy of up to 450 kilometers, or 65 kilometers more than the autonomy offered by Tesla Model S. The 270 kW charging capacity enables it to travel up to 100 kilometers in ideal conditions, with only five minutes of charging.

So far, the Porsche Taycan has been tested on roads and rough terrains, including snowy and sandy roads, in hot weather.

The high technology inside the Porsche Taycan

Called Tesla’s true competitor, the Porsche Taycan is the German manufacturer’s electric sedan that will debut soon.

Before the debut, the company released officially photos of the car, and what impresses us is that Taycan has five screens, one of which is for the passenger only. But the innovations do not end there. The direction of the air blowers is controlled via electronic commands and not manual controls.

Let’s talk first about the screen on the right side of the dashboard, which is integrated with the platform becoming one with it, unlike the screens we’re used to seeing who look like they are glued to the screen.

Porsche has not revealed details about the passenger side screen, so we have to wait to find out more. But what we do know is that this screen is optional. Although Porsche does  not mention the size, knowing that the center screen in the dashboard is 10.9 inches, simply comparing it, it is clear that the passenger screen is not too small.

As for the 10.9-inch main screen, this screen is the gateway to a multitude of commands and features such as navigation, phone, media, comfort and Porsche Connect. With optimized voice control, the Porsche Taycan driver can access functions even faster.

The prevailing display is 16.8-inches, and consists of digital gauges. It is curved, and instead of sunscreen, the screen is wrapped with a polarized filter glass to avoid reflection.

The way digital meters are set up can be configured as you want. Porsche offers four main modes. “Classic mode“, which has the main meter as the power meter. Map Mode” deletes the power meter, and places a map in the center, while “Full Mode Mode” places a map on the screen, deleting all other instruments from the screen. Then there is “Clean Mode“, which only provides key driving information, such as speed, traffic signs and navigation.

You may also notice that at the edges of the 16.8-inch screen are touch-sensitive control buttons, which manage the lights and everything related to performance.

Below the 10.9-inch screen is another 8.4-inch screen, which allows the driver to control the climate. Furthermore, the driver can type on the screen manually, and as shown in the picture, the screen shows the charging status when the vehicle is being charged.

The last screen, just like the passenger screen, is optional. It is located at the back of the center panel. The 5.9-inch touch-and-gesture unit lets passengers in the rear seats control the climate.

Part of this control involves adjusting not only the temperature and air speed, but also the direction, as the rear passenger air fans, just like the head air fans, can be controlled only by electronic controls.

The Porsche Taycan electric car will make its debut in Niagara Falls next month.
