Google Pixel 4a

Google Pixel 4a Officially Revealed: Price, Specs And Other Details

After Pixel 3a, it is the second generation of budget pixels

Mid-range devices have been among the best-selling on Google but are far from being the most profitable business. Premium devices from market leaders like Samsung and Apple are the ones that generate the most revenue but it is the segment that is occupied by Samsung and Apple.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

The Pixel 4a comes with a 5.81-inch FHD OLED 1080 ×2340 and a 443ppi display. It has an 8-megapixel front-hole camera and a single 12.2-megapixel rear camera, which captures perhaps the best photos of a phone at this price point. The disadvantage is that the Pixel 4a does not have as many sensors as the more expensive model, for example, an infrared sensor for face recognition is missing.

Google has traditionally taken special emphasis on the camera for pixel phones. For Pixel 4, Google first installed a telephoto lens on the mobile, in addition to the wide-angle main camera.

In terms of hardware specifications, it features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoC, an Adreno 618 responsible for graphics, 6GB RAM and 128GB UFS2.1 of internal memory, and a 3,140 mAh battery with 18W charging. The phone is seen as a direct rival to the OnePlus Nord, iPhone SE and Samsung Galaxy A71. This phone is delivered with the latest version of Android 10.

Since Pixel 3, every Google phone has also had a Titan M chip that contains numerous security mechanisms. Among other things, this ensures that the operating system is not manipulated. The fingerprint sensor is on the back, exactly where it should be.

The two main positive aspects of it are the fact that it is a Google product so updates should come sooner than others and even promise support for it up to Android 14, 3 years of Android updates. Second: The real reason why we would buy a Pixel; The camera.

We mentioned a bit above that there will only be one sensor, but that has never prevented this line from coming out on top of all the others. The benefits of the exclusive Pixel program will come here as well, the photos according to the examples will continue to be fantastic, the colors will be accurate, the contrasts as well and the impressive portrait mode will continue to provide results.

Google Pixel 4a Price and Availability

The price of a mobile phone in Germany is 349 euros or currently 340.20 euros due to the current reduction of VAT. The device is only available in black and it’s all made in plastic. Pixel 4A sales are expected on September 10th and according to some reports, shipping will begin from October 1 in some regions.

On Monday Google said the company’s first 5G phones, Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) will go on sale in the Fall starting at $499. The 5G models will be sold in the US, Canada, Britain, Ireland, Germany, France, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia.

Pixel 5 is Google’s flagship of the year which will come in October and beyond this news, we know nothing about it officially. The only thing Google says about this model is that the Pixel 5 is coming this Fall.

Galaxy Z Flip 5G

Galaxy Z Flip 5G Officially Revealed

Will cost $1,449.99 this time, $70 more than the first

We no longer need to wonder about rumors as Samsung makes it official; Galaxy Z Flip 5G will come on August 7, 2020. At first glance, the device is totally the same as its 4G predecessor, and in fact, apart from 5G waves and the Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, nothing has changed.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

However, the support for 5G networks is limited to under 6GHz and there is no support for 5G mmWave. This means that users will only get 20-30% faster speeds compared to 4G/LTE, and will not get the gigabit+ speed that is only possible with 5W mmWave networks.

Samsung has managed to insert a 5G antenna without changing anything externally, but on the other hand, has made adjustments to the system. The “Flex” mode has initially allowed auto programs to be reconfigured to a semi-open screen. YouTube should work properly now with Flex but the camera app should also work from more angles.

The Galaxy Flip was expected to be unveiled at the August 5 event along with Fold and a host of other products, but Samsung seems to be clearing the stage for the real star: Galaxy Note 20.

As for Fold, there are some rumors talking about more significant changes, 5G implementation, new processor, camera improvements, and the same price.

The Samsung Galaxy Flip will go on sale on August 7 in the USA and then across the globe.

Placing the 20-megapixel pop-up camera on the side is due to the fact that the phone will be used most of the time horizontally. On the back is a 64-megapixel camera. Lastly, Lenovo has used ultrasonic buttons that work in the same way as the Black Shark 3 Pro buttons.

What finally stands out in the Asus ROG Phone 3 is the ultrasonic AirTrigger triggers. These are touch-sensitive surfaces on the edges of the phone that mimic the experience of using a normal controller. They are adaptable to user requirements, while the addition of a dual surface separation function gives the controller L1/L2 and R1/R2 buttons. In addition, the user can activate a game command when you shake the phone, for example, the player can reload his weapon.

Classically, Asus also offers additional accessories, such as the TwinView Dock 3 that adds another screen to the device and an electronic platform that lets you connect a keyboard and mouse. Later in the year will come the ROG Strix XG16, a 15.6-inch mobile screen with 144Hz, ROG Cetra RGB which are headphones with ANC and ROG Falchion a wireless mechanical keyboard with touch panel and 400 hours of lifespan.

In the cameras filed we have a triple display on the back with 64MP IMX686, 13MP ultra-wide 125 degrees, and 5MP macro lens. In video it is possible to shoot 8K at 30fps or 4K at 120fps. The selfie camera is 24MP.

The release of the Asus ROG Phone 3 is expected in September.

In Europe, for €999 you can get 12GB of RAM and 512GB of space, or for €100 more you can get the largest RAM ever in a smartphone, of 16GB. However, there is also a cheaper version for €799 with 8GB RAM and 256GB space.

With the unveiling of the OnePlus Nord model, the company says it is returning to its true mission as it continues its adventure in the high flagship segment. In short, it is not different from the tactics followed by Apple, Google, and Samsung who offer all budget flagships in response to consumer trends.

Back to the origin, the OnePlus Nord was officially unveiled, and if we were to find a general description, this smartphone is simply a slightly more modest version of the OnePlus 8 for a cheaper price starting at of 399 euros.

The product is designed for Europe and for this price the buyer gets a 5G phone with Snapdragon 765G processor. It’s not a real flagship and OnePlus knows this quite well because the more powerful Snapdragon 865 processor is reserved for the OnePlus 8 which costs a few hundred dollars more. Sub-6Ghz 5G and Warp Charge 30T fast charge powered by Snapdragon 765G is the only integral change from OnePlus.

In some aspects, sit has been conservative and in others generous. The design is definitely premium, as is the screen, not at all resembling a mid-range phone we are used to. The 6.44-inch 1080p AMOLED display, which this time does not bend sideways, has what every smartphone today is using as a reason to attract new buyers: the 90Hz display. The resolution is 2400×1080 pixels.

On the back are four cameras: 48-megapixel main, 8-megapixel super wide-angle, 2-megapixel macro and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. It has the same Sony IMX586 sensor as the OnePlus 8. On the front are two selfie cameras: a 32-megapixel and a super wide-angle 107-degree 8-megapixel. The question is what impact will the less powerful Snapdragon 765G processor has on the camera performance.

In recent years of software development has yielded tremendous results in photographic quality. With this sensor, OnePlus has a long experience since OnePlus 7 and has already refined it in terms of software.

The 90Hz display makes using the phone a stand-alone experience in addition to the bezels which have been reduced as never before.

The 4,115 mAh battery should provide a full day of use and thanks to the 5G integration in the Snapdragon 765G the lifetime impact from the processor will be smaller than that in the OnePlus 8 which has a separate 5G modem. OnePlus Nod weighs 184 grams and is available in blue and black colors, while there is a fingerprint scanner on the screen.

OnePlus Nord Prices and Availability

Nord will go on sale in Europe on August 4 with a base price of 399 euros for the 8GB RAM model and 128GB memory. The model 12GB RAM and 256GB memory will cost 499 euros. At the moment the main focus is on Europe and India.

For just $159.99 the WP6 brings mid-range options, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, 6.3-inch 1080 display, 48MP camera, and Android 9.0

The golden days of charging the Nokia 3310 only once a week were eclipsed by the advent of massive screens, with advanced technology and features that until yesterday a computer and some extra devices were needed.

Oukitel has an alternative for the toughest conditions and at a price that competes whatever you throw forward. For just $159.99 the WP6 brings mid-range options, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, 6.3-inch 1080p, 48MP camera and Android 9.0.

But the points where the smartphone knows no competition are the strengths, as the camera is super protected, ready to endure drops and shocks from the most dramatic. 1.1mm Corning Gorilla Glass, and a “metal aviation” frame. Dust and water protection is IP68 which allows it to resist up to 1.5 meters depth for 30 minutes.

And the final charging solution comes in the form of 10,000 mAh. A massive battery which can also be used to charge other devices. 18W must provide sufficient charging speed.

It’s not the most sophisticated or beautiful smartphone, but clearly someone working in difficult conditions would do quite a favor.

Samsung reveals the first details of 6G networks

Samsung Electronics expects that the 6G communication to be commercialized in 2028 and to enter mass use in 2030. The company said that ITU-R, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) sector responsible for radiocommunications, will start operating on 6G from next year.

The process of developing technical standards for each generation from 2G to 5G has been significantly reduced. It took 15 years to develop 3G, while with 6G this process will be significantly accelerated.

Although we are still in the early stages of commercializing 5G, Samsung executives believe it is not too early to launch the work on 6G. Samsung predicts speeds up to 1Tbps (1000Gbps), transmission delays of 100 microseconds, 50 times more capacity than 5G. The use of artificial intelligence paves the way for the need for a reliable 6G in the face of security and privacy threats.

Snapdragon 865 Plus

Snapdragon 865 Plus, the first mobile processor that breaks the 3Ghz barrier

Flagship smartphone prices may go up

Most of the new 5G smartphones debuted this year have the Snapdragon 865 processor, but that’s already a thing of the past. Qualcomm has introduced a new mobile chip, the Snapdragon 865 Plus.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

It’s a bit faster than the previous generation, and despite the modest improvements, you can expect smartphone manufacturers to adopt it for 5G phones. What differentiates the Snapdragon 865 Plus is the new Kryo 585 processor core which has a maximum frequency of 3.1Ghz. In other words, it is 10% higher than the Snapdragon 865.

Snapdragon 865 Plus has new graphics known as Adreno 650, 10% faster than Adreno 640 graphics. Finally, the new processor comes with Wi-Fi speeds up to 3.6Gbps.

Its architecture remains unchanged. It has 8 processor cores and a 5G X55 modem. Last year the Snapdragon 855 Plus model appeared mainly on gaming phones like the Asus ROG Phone II and Nubia Red Magic 3.

This year’s processor that brings 5G technology has been criticized for raising the price of smartphones to $1,000. The Snapdragon 865 Plus risks sending costs even higher.

2020 iPhone SE

2020 iPhone SE: What could we ask more from a low-cost iPhone

Starting at 400 euros for the 64GB base model, the iPhone SE takes the best of the iPhone 11, its processor and software, and puts them in the body of an iPhone 8

Apple‘s latest phone was a surprise product from the low-cost company that brings back the classic design and challenges any other mid-range smartphone. The design is almost completely unchanged from the iPhone 6, a design language dating back to 2016 with the traditional Home button but with the performance of a recent iPhone.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

It is positioned as a great force in the middle segment dominated by Android smartphones, but with the best performance and service that you can get from a phone, that only Apple can offer.

The design of the iPhone we know today took a different path in 2018. In 2020 the iPhone SE screen is smaller than today’s 4.7-inch standards, but its body and construction are timeless. In the end, this smartphone gives more than the screen suggests.

The dimensions and materials are the same as the iPhone 8. Glass front and rear, aluminum on its sides, fingerprint scanner Touch ID, Lightning connector but without 3.5mm headphone port and Face ID. It weighs 148 grams, making it much lighter than its rivals.

2020 iPhone SE Hardware specifications

  • Screen: 4.7-inch Retina HD (LCD) with 326 pixels per inch
  • Processor: Apple A13 Bionic
  • RAM: 3GB
  • Storage: 64, 128 or 256GB
  • Operating System: iOS 13
  • Camera: 12-megapixel rear with optical stabilization, 7-megapixel front
  • Connectivity: Esim, LTE, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5, Lightning, and GPS
  • Water resistance: IP67 (1 meter for 30 minutes)
  • Dimensions: 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3mm
  • Weight: 148 grams

Equal performance with the iPhone 11

The 2020 iPhone SE has the iPhone 11 processor, the Apple A13 Bionic, and it works the same way. This means that even in the years to come, the iPhone SE remains competitive in this regard.

It costs only 400 euros and in this category does not recognize a rival in performance. But this performance costs us the battery. The battery lasts only 27 hours between two chargers, enough to get to bed in the evening, or an hour longer than the iPhone 8 and eight hours less than the iPhone 11. Charging the 2020 iPhone SE with the 5W adapter is a painful process. It reaches 55% after 60 minutes and takes 2 hours and 45 minutes to reach 100%.

The smartphone also has wireless charging technology but is not the best choice to charge the phone quickly. With iOS 13, the phone learns from user behavior how it charges the smartphone and sends the battery up to 80% and waits until you’re ready to pick up the smartphone, and then it charges the rest.

iOS 13

The iPhone SE comes from the box with iOS 13.4.1, the same iOS version installed on the expensive iPhone 11 models. The main difference between iOS iPhone SE and expensive phones is the control through gestures. The iPhone SE has a physical button that comes with Touch ID which performs all the gesture functions of the iPhone 11.

You’ll get Dark Mode, better privacy, and a clean menu of quick options. What sets an Apple product apart from others is definitely its support for nearly 5 years. The best of Apple’s rivals could be close to 4 years, but only for flagships and not low-cost models like the iPhone SE. Apple offers 5 years of support for each of its smartphones.

The Camera

The 2020 iPhone SE has a 12-megapixel rear camera which is identical to the iPhone 8’s camera but with the iPhone 11’s software power. The combination is really good.

In bright light it is difficult to tell the difference between a photo taken with the iPhone SE and the iPhone 11 Pro, a smartphone that costs twice as much. The images are well balanced with numerous details and accurate colors. In medium light, iPhone SE images start to lose quality. iPhone SE does not have Apple Night Mode but has Portrait Mode. Videos can be recorded at 60fps in 4K.

Overall the camera can only bitted from the Google Pixel 3A. The selfie camera is also high quality producing high detail and properly exposed photos in sufficient light.

Worth noting

  • The haptic feel is fantastic on the iPhone SE
  • There is no adapter for headphones in the box but there are Lightning EarPods headphones
  • Stereo speakers are very high quality
  • You can’t open the notifications panel by holding down the lockscreen as you would any other iPhone
  • The iPhone SE is extremely small for some wireless chargers

Price

iPhone SE is sold in three colors, black, white, and red with a price of 400 euros for the 64GB model, 450 euros for the 128GB model, and 549 euros for the 256GB model.

For comparison, the iPhone 11 costs 700 euros for the 64GB model, 749 euros for the 128GB model, and 849 euros for the 256GB model. Google Pixel 3a costs 300 euros, OnePlus 8 600 euros, and Galaxy S20 800 euros.

The Verdict

Usually when Apple is mentioned the last thing that comes to mind is value, but iPhone SE is the opposite. The 2017 iPhone 8 was revitalized in 2020 with a cost reduction and state-of-the-art processor. The combination is potent. You get a real iPhone several times at a lower cost.

The design is old but easily manageable for a smartphone of this size. Good screen, good battery, quality camera, wireless charging technology, water-resistant and high build quality. The icing on the cake is definitely the A13 processor and industry-leading software that is iOS with at least 5 years of support. In short, you can buy an iPhone SE and use it for the next 5 years with a level of quality and uncontested performance.

It’s not perfect because it lacks some features like Face ID, high battery life, and 3.5mm headphone jack. iPhone SE is the phone to buy for those people who just want a non too big and a long-lasting functional smartphone.
