Online Security

Online Security Big Business for Today’s “Cyberpreneurs”

About 20 or so years ago, the number of people in the business world writing and sending memos began to substantially decrease. You remember those to-from-date-subject missives sent person-to-person and between departments, right? They were printed on paper and arrived in countless “in” trays and office door mailboxes tucked into interoffice envelopes that were sealed shut with a small piece of string.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Correspondence among business colleagues didn’t cease, but doing it via paper did.

Vancouver technology entrepreneur Thierry Levasseur, one of Canada’s top go-to online security experts, recalls those days and the positive and maybe not-so-positive implications they brought with them.

According to him, as email grew as a business communication channel, it facilitated people’s ability to connect quickly. But it also opened the doors to all types of unwanted email.

It also made professionals in the tech arena aware of the growing need for email security. He recognized early in the game that email was vulnerable to hackers and scammers, making it a problem to maintain confidentiality and privacy.

Today, there are countless professionals who fit the definition of what some are calling “cyberpreneurs.” According to Himanshu Joshi, associate professor at IMI New Delhi, “Cyberpreneurship is a phenomenon unique to the digital age, having originated from the fusion of cyber—a prefix that symbolizes digitization of established systems; and entrepreneurship, the commercial backbone shaping modern economies.”

He writes that, “Following this logic, cyberpreneurs are essentially professionals who digitize access to their products and services by leveraging information technology, especially the Internet.”

As the Internet has grown in popularity, evolving from its role as a business tool in the early 1990s to today’s all-encompassing public dependence on online platforms for everything from social messaging to entertainment, it has continued to attract criminals, activists and others who leverage the technology for a range of nefarious purposes.

Every day, countless cybercriminals around the world log on and use their finely honed hacking skills to make money, get themselves noticed, and even disrupt enterprises and governmental bodies. “Because these events are so prevalent,” says Thierry Levasseur, “people like me as well as my peers have become trusted advisors to a range of clients who are looking to address these problems.”

According to an article on Wired.com, “McAfee recently reported that cybercrime is a growth industry where the returns are great and the risks are low. In fact, McAfee estimates that the likely annual cost to the global economy from cybercrime is more than $400 billion, a number that is more than the national income of most countries.”

Many in the know say that as technology continues to change, there will be a need for cybersecurity expertise. Thierry Levasseur realized this several years ago, and says the need for safe, secure online protection is and will always be a constant. Others agree.

“Cybersecurity almost always finds a new market two to three years after a disruptive technology emerges,” write Yoav Leitersdorf and Ofer Schreiber, managing partner and partner, respectively, at YL Ventures. “Virtual containers, autonomous vehicles, and drones, for instance, have created some of the latest and greatest opportunities in cybersecurity. Right now, someone is inventing a technology that will spawn massive security issues.”c

Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition

Meet the Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition made for the US Army

S20 Tactical Edition is a reinforced version to serve the military

The advancement of technology goes hand in hand with the reinforcement of the materials it comes with, after all if we pay €1000 for a smartphone it should at least be resistant.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

Samsung is not satisfied with the strong composition of the Galaxy S20, so it has brought the S20 Tactical Edition, a reinforced version to serve the military. The device was commissioned by the United States Department of Defense, it can serve in long distances and difficult terrain but also has high-security encryption.

There aren’t many details about the smartphone’s interior changes yet, but it’s seen to be wrapped in a very thick case, and painted with the contours of the American military uniform.

The Galaxy S20 TE can be connected to army tactical radios and mission systems via Private SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, and 3.5Ghz (reserved for Marina satellite communications – land.) Also, this Galaxy has a special setting on the screen, which makes it visible for night glasses as well it has a “stealth mode” as airplane mode but more extreme, which deactivates LTE, and any RF signal.

Unfortunately, Samsung does not list a price for the product, which suggests that we will probably never see it on the market for the consumer.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

The game, which has been in closed beta since April, will be available for free on PCacross most regions around the world,” according to Riot. Although there are those who have been lucky enough to play it in closed beta, the game will nullify everything for everyone.

In a YouTube video, executive producer Anna Donlon and game director Joe Ziegler also shared post-launch plans for Valorant. Among which are a new mode, a new character, and a new map all just in a short time after launch.

Along with the new content, Riot plans to add Valorant servers to cities around the world such as Atlanta, Dallas, London, Madrid, and Warsaw, Poland in order to give players better service.

Valorant is a 5v5 game, combining elements of Overwatch and Counter Strike. It is considered the first major launch of Riot, after League of Legends, which came out a decade ago. Her beta has dominated Twitch since it was launched, thanks to a unique strategy that players could play just by watching other streams.

Workplace Rooms

Facebook creates a version of Messenger Rooms for business companies

Called Workplace Rooms, the new service can host videos and conversations of up to 50 people simultaneously

Last week Facebook introduced Messenger Rooms, a video chat service and a potential competitor to Zoom. The social network will now bring this service to the Workplace platform, which is Facebook’s alternative to Slack.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

There is no limit on how long the meetings should be and you should not be part of the Workplace to join a conversation. Workplace users can create a video call through a link in Workplace Chat, Groups, News Feed, or Portal and share it in a chat, email, post or SMS.

The creators of a video call can block the entry of others in the group, remove participants while the latter has the opportunity to share the computer screen during the conversation.

The Facebook movement pushes the social network into a direct competition with Zoom. It’s also a blow to Slack that last month added the Microsoft Teams video calling option.

According to Facebook, Workplace had 5 million paid users, an increase of 2 million since October 2019. As with any other video-conferencing service, Workplace Rooms must gain the trust of users before they fall prey to privacy scandals as in the case of Zoom.

Ahead of the July 17 release date of Ghost of Tsushima, Sony unveiled an 18-minute stream, entirely dedicated to gameplay

Sony and developer Sucker Punch Productions gave viewers “a broad look at new gameplay images, including exploration, combat, and more. “No news was expected on the PlayStation 5,” just a big, beautiful look at Sucker Punch’s open-world PS4 epic.”

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

During the episode, developers from Sucker Punch showed the gameplay and new game details. Some of the highlights include new exploration details, such as a “Guiding Wind” to help you navigate, and apparently the ability to gather resources without leaving your horse. In particular, Ghost of Tsushima also has foxes, which will guide you to the “shrines hidden on the island.”

Fighting was also a major focus, with a host of explained details, such as smoke bombs and counterattacks. Sucker Punch also provided details on photo mode and video mode, which looks quite expansive, giving players the opportunity to create short-length samurai movies.

The stream was broadcast on YouTube and Twitch, but you can also watch it above.

Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima was first unveiled at Paris Games Week in 2017. It was originally scheduled for a release date of May 29, but the game was delayed in late April alongside The Last of Us Part 2.

iOS 13.5

Apple releases the 13.5 version of iOS and iPadOS

Apple released iOS and iPadOS 13.5 with major updates almost a month after releasing version 13.4.1 of operating systems. iOS 13.5 is an update that focuses mainly on health and dealing with the health crisis that the world is facing today.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

You can download the latest versions by going to Settings> General> Software Update.

The company also released the iOS 12.4.7 version of the operating system for older models with mostly security updates.

iOS 13.5 comes with APIs created by Apple and Google through which public health authorities can create applications capable of tracking coronavirus spread. It is a Bluetooth-based technology and will be incorporated into health applications.

Users can choose whether to activate it or not. Apps using the Exposure Notification API will use Bluetooth to communicate between the smartphones of the people around you.

iOS 13.5 makes it easier to access your smartphone via Face ID even if you have a mask worn. With this version if the operating system identifies the use of a face mask, it will faster show the space for setting the password.

Apple has also improved group calls on FaceTime by adding an option that automatically increases the video size of the person who is currently speaking. The other “Automatic Prominence” option makes videos of all group participants the same size. Touching on one of them, the video magnifies.

In Apple Music, a new feature makes it possible to distribute songs directly to Instagram stories.

Finally, the update addresses two critical security issues that affect Mail applications on the iPhone and iPad. One of these problems allowed hackers to compromise the iPhone with simple malware by sending an e-mail while the second makes it possible to execute the code remotely.

iOS 13.5 may be one of the latest versions of iOS 13 as we prepare for iOS 14. Apple will unveil the latter on June 22 when the WWDC Developer Conference is held online

This processor will go on sale on June 16

AMD’s budget processor, Ryzen 3 3100, has been boosted to 6Ghz, very close to the Ryzen 9 3950X model record. The TSAIK enthusiast has managed to boost the frequency of a $99 processor like the Ryzen 3 3100 to 5.92Ghz using liquid nitrogen.

Samsung revealed the new 50MP ISOCELL GN1 camera sensor for smartphones

With the ISOCELL GN1 sensor, Samsung’s priority is a high resolution and fast autofocus.

Samsung today unveiled the new 50-megapixel sensor called ISOCELL GN1. It is Samsung’s first dual-pixel autofocus sensor and tetracell combination, offering higher performance and better image quality in low light.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

The pixel size is 1.2μm, almost as much as a conventional camera sensor offers. The main competitor to this sensor is the Sony IMX689, which is found in phones like the Oppo Find X2 Pro and has a 48-megapixel 1.22μm size.

Normally the Samsung sensor will capture 12.5-megapixel photos with four pixels combined into a single one. The advent of the dual-pixel autofocus is valuable because Samsung has failed in this space.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra, which has a 108-megapixel sensor without dual-pixel technology, has suffered from autofocus performance. Samsung says it is testing a solution even though it has not yet implemented it.
