The richest man in the world, the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos, agreed to divorce his wife MacKenzie for what would cost it $35 billion.
She will hold 4% of the online distributor’s stock worth 35.6 billion dollars.
Amazon was founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos, a year after the couple married and Mrs. Bezos was one of the first employees.
Both sides published Twitter twitters on each other. Shares in Amazon will make Mrs Bezos the fourth richest woman in the world, while Jeff remains the world’s richest man in the world, according to Forbes.
Bezos 55 years old and his former wife MacKenzie 48 were married in 1993 and have four children
Bezos held 16.3% of Amazon shares, and now owns only 75% of them, with 25% going to his wife.
The latter decided to give him all the voting rights and to hold back from the Washington Post and the Blue Origin firm. Today Amazon is one of the largest distributors in the world with $ 232.8 billion in sales.
Jeff Bezos and his family have a fortune of $131 billion according to Forbes.
