Starting a website takes up a lot of hard work and smart work. In today’s competitive market, it has become difficult. Many websites do not show up on top of the search list as they lack many factors that affect website growth. Keyword research is one among them.

Keywords refer to the words that we put up on our website to increase the website rankings on the top list. It is a significant part of Search Engine Optimization. Effective keywords have to be used to increase website searchability. Keyword research depends on users. Strategies have to be used for proper keyword research which includes:

  • Main keywords: 

Also referred to as seed or head keywords, these keywords are the main and commonly used keywords for websites. There are hundreds of websites using the same keywords. You can look for the keywords on

  • Synonyms of these keywords: 

Synonyms are words that have the same meaning. It is important to know at least one or two synonyms of keywords. It can benefit your website. Users now are even using synonyms to extract better content out of websites.

  • Long keywords: 

These might be phrases. A combination of two or more phrases is typed for searching for information on search engines. Try to include long-tailed keywords in your websites.

  • Conceptual Keywords: 

Keywords related to a particular concept are also used as part of search engine optimization

  • Search for Trending keywords: 

The popular search engine Google updates keywords on a monthly basis. They might be of any kind. So, keep updating keywords accordingly for user’s satisfaction and make it to the top list of SERPs.

  • Using of Long-tail keywords: 

These are generally a combination of two or three phrases. If a user doesn’t get exact information about a topic they search on Google, they type long-tailed keywords and extract information. These words must not be too long or short. They must be minimal. The long-tailed keywords use has been increasing. This can be done by using Google or other tools. Take up a list of keywords and segregate the keywords you want to use. 

  • Finding Right kind of keywords: 

Being on Google’s search list is not an easy thing. Choosing the right keywords for your website is important. Choose the keywords according to the content you post. It must match the content as well as users’ specifications. Make sure to update with new keywords.

  • Knowing the Niche: 

Before starting a website, know your niche on which you can work. If you are a beginner, it might be quite difficult to manage. So before starting a website, know the keyword strategies based on your niche. This strategy must make you different from other competitors. Follow a few steps to make your content unique and get to know your competitors:

  1. See how frequently your opponents post content.
  2. Which type of content do they post, it might be in the form of video, graphics, pictures. 
  3. Website structure that is implemented by the website like the main page, other options.
  4. How often do they use social media for spreading information? 
  5. Also, look up how often they keep updating content. 
  • Keyword ranking: 

Using proper keywords will bring down your competitors. Firstly go to your other websites and check what it takes for these websites to SERPs creating more traffic. Google or other tools like Semrush can be used for organic keyword ranking.

  • Keywords to page titles: 

Page titles are also a part of keyword research. After taking up some good amount of keywords, convert them into page titles and start writing the content. Your title must be unique and attractive. For this, you need to have a good grip on vocabulary. 

  • Seed keywords: 

Seed keywords or main keywords are the primary ones used for your content. These are often referred to as Search Engine Optimization keywords. These are important for website development. Use Google or other keyword research tools like SemRush. SemRush contains a tool called the Keyword Magic Tool.

  • Conceptual keywords: 

Also called semantically related keywords, these words are concept related words for your content. The word may differ but the meaning is the same. Consider a word like programming languages. Another word related to this is high-level programming languages.
