The technology is similar to the 5x prototype that the company displayed a few years ago, using the lateral width of the phone to provide the necessary physical depth through the use of a prism of the periscope.
This time the camera is 15.9-159mm, which means that it will start with an ultra-wide perspective and zoom in the average telephoto. There are essentially three main lenses in one, so Oppo‘s claim of “zero resolution” zoom may not be quite accurate across the range of zoom, but it should be flexible enough.
Oppo says he will feature the camera at MWC 2019 next month, but it is unclear whether it will be in the form of a commercial product.
