Technology does not stop / Wi-Fi signal can identify bombs and explosives

An ordinary Wi-Fi network can be used to identify guns and explosives in public spaces according to a study by Rutgers University in the US.

Wireless signals can penetrate the bags to measure the dimensions of metal objects or predict the volume of liquids say the researchers.

Preliminary tests concluded that the system was 95% correct. It can serve as a low-cost alternative to airport security.

The team after the research has tested 15 types of objects and 6 types of bags.

The Wi-fi system had a 99% success by recognizing hazardous objects and 98 to 95% for metals and liquids, respectively.

If the objects were wrapped inside the bag, the identification dropped to 90%, informs pcw.

To be functional this option requires that the wi-fi device have two or three antennas.

Intel: This ‘Ruler’ SSD Is World’s Densest

Hard drives have been offering us decades of quiet and efficient service. But soon they will be replaced by the SSD disks and their variants. If they have not already done so, it is because they still carry a couple of handicaps: their storage capacity, and their price.

Intel has been struggling to overcome the first limitation by creating a new rule-shaped SSD disk format which can store 32TB data.

The SSD’s capacity has been breaking records , rising dramatically. They are also taking on new formats: Intel has announced the P4500, a 32-terabyte rule for data center servers.

According to Intel , this is the densest SSD in the world. That is, it stores more data in relation to its volume. They are 30 cm long (like a good ruler), 4 cm wide and 0,75 cm thick.

In the opening image of the news, you can see the new format rule for Intel SSDs. Do not expect to find it in stores, because at the moment it will only be available for data centers of Internet providers. If a 1 TB SSD drive costs $358, imagine what can be worth a 32TB SSD with a much more advanced technology.

The SSD drives are much faster, heat up less and are quieter than conventional hard drives, but have less capacity and are expensive. You can see how they work in this video:-

The data centers that use hundreds, even thousands of servers to store Web pages and other content from Internet providers, continue to rely on conventional hard drives precisely because they have more capacity and are much cheaper.

However, with this SSD you can gather up to 32 32TB rulers in a single server rack. That equals one petabyte (1PB) of data. They can replace traditional 2.5-inch square SSDs.

The idea here is to reduce cooling costs and energy consumption. The giant chip manufacturer, of course, Intel says the most expensive item in most data centers is air conditioning. According to the giant chip manufacturer, of course, Intel, the P4500 requires half of the airflow needed to cool a traditional SSD and consumes 10% of the power of a hard drive.

The company uses 3D NAND technology in 64 layers of memory cells here. IBM, Microsoft, and Tencent have already adopted the rule in their cloud operations and data center. This format was defined one year ago, based on the EDSFF (Enterprise & Datacenter Storage Form Factor) standard.

While the South Korean giant Samsung also created a standard for SSDs, called NGSFF (Next Generation Small Form Factor), in order to replace the M.2. It can fit up to 576TB in a server rack.

Instagram brings the lite version to all of you who “are suffering” from the memory of the phone

Like the parent company, Instagram has launched an Lite version of the app on Google Play. Like Instagram Lite’s counterparts, Facebook and Messenger, it was created for users in developing countries.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Since it’s only 573 kilobytes instead of 32MB as the main application, Intagram Lite can easily accessed from people who have old phones or small memory devices.

The smallest app size also allows people who have access to slow or interrupted internet connection to download from Google Play.

The social network unveiled the new Lite app on Google Play without much fuss. Maybe because it’s not very much available to many people yet.

Meet the new technology on the screen of cars

Meet the new technology on the screen of cars

An innovative technology allows you to drive your car while simultaneously controlling music, calls, messages, and navigation without taking your eyes off the road.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Many cars have a touching screen, through which drivers control different functions. However, the screen may be a spell and cause accidents.

The Israelite startup Inpris has developed Sightless Touch technology, a system that allows drivers to touch special buttons on the screen without being distracted from driving. The driver positions three fingers at any point on the screen, the software automatically calibrates at the finger position. Each finger is predefined to control a function: one controls the phone, one the navigation, and one the music. For example, if you want to listen to music, the driver leaves the finger on the screen, which may be the index finger, and removes the other two fingers.

With the finger for the “music” function on the screen, the driver will move in the direction (up, down, right, or left) of one of the four options to select an action. Navigation and phone functions work the same way. The whole process that needs to be completed does not take more than three seconds, compared to an average of 30 seconds of fun to perform simple tasks using voice commands. With continuous use, the driver will develop muscle memory and will not be tempted to look away from the road or think too much about executing a command.

You can also choose to have a voice guide that remembers which options are and which direction to go for each one. So, in addition to the locking system, the driver can use the hybrid voice control system that will make one of the four predefined queries. For example, depending on the voice you can ask “Who should you call?”, “Where are you going ?, Which music will you play?”, “To whom will you send a message?”. Moreover, if the driver wants to use a touch screen in a more convenient location, instead of interacting with the central keyboard, he can use the smartphone.

Jerusalem-based startup patented technology, founded in 2011 by Nissan Yaron and his father Ben-Etzion Yaron, is now integrated into several cars, but in the coming years we can see it in all cars.

From Facebook Messenger you can share HD video and 360 degree photos

Facebook announced a Messenger update, which will now allow users to share video at 360 degrees and HD quality videos.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

In both cases, the company emphasizes that you will need to capture photos or videos outside of the Messenger app. The update followed another that took place last fall, allowing users to share high resolution files through Messenger, something that Facebook said was a result of its significant investments to help people “communicate with the eye.”

From Facebook Messenger you can share HD video and 360 degree photos

Unfortunately for Facebook, news on improved media sharing capabilities comes at a time when the company is accused of misusing user data and, recently, another finding that Facebook had saved videos that users believed were deleted. The wider effect of this news story about Facebook’s approach to privacy is a growing mistrust of Facebook’s products.

Facebook says that if you want to share a 360-degree photo, you’ll first need to do it on your device or another app before uploading it to Messenger. Similarly, HD videos will need to be captured first by phone, or reallowed by Facebook News Feed or other messages.

This new feature is limited to currently selected markets including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, MB and US for iOS and Android. However, 360 photos are available all over the world on iOS and Android.
