A new cheat with Bitcoin infects computers with ransomware and trojans

In reality this program does nothing but install a ransomware or Trojan that steals passwords on victim computers.

Fraud was first discovered by researchers with the nickname Frost who spoke about him on Twitter.

Fraud is promoted on sites that promise profit on Ethereum by referring to their website. These pages say that those referring to 1,000 visits earn 3 Ethereum worth $750.

Claims for free Ethereum are not even fraud. As you can see from the image presented, they say you can earn $15-45 a day free and automatically.

If you click that advertisement you will be sent to another site that promotes a program called “Bitcoin Collector” which when downloading should generate free bitcoin for you.

It even provides a link to VirusTotal to show users that it is safe and has no malware. But the program is actually a secret trojan.

When downloading and extracting a zip file, some files will be generated as well as an exutable called BotCollector.exe. when executing the latter will launch a program called “Freebitco.in – Bot” which does not seem to serve any purpose. In reality, this trojan claims to be a bitcoin generator but simply launches malware.

When researchers analyzed the trojan, it was noticed that clicking the Start button would cause a fake bot program to activate the malware.

The interesting fact of this scheme is that attackers promise free ethereum by referring users to the website and gaining free promotion of “BotcCollector” as well as more opportunities to infect others.

First as a malware

When Frost unveiled the campaign, the malware was hidden in a HiddenTear ransomware called “Marozka Tear Ransomware.”

When launched, it encrypts the .crypted files and creates some notes on how to decrypt the files. The program and notes ask the user to contact [email protected] to receive payment instructions.

Already this campaign promotes a Trojan. Frost said this is a Baldr infection which has a 32/70 detection ratio in VirusTotal.

Below you can see the control servers and commands. Trojan infection is much more dangerous because it steals account credentials online, realizes screenshots, takes browser history, steals files, and even encrypts portfolios.

Intel Reveals the Core i9-9900KS processor: runs 5 GHz on all eight cores

Last year Intel talked about a processor capable of using all cores at 5GHz frequency. Today it became a reality. The new Core i9-9900KS processor has eight core working at 5Ghz all together.

Demos last year was demonstrated on a 28-core Xeon processor but in reality it had a lower frequency. The new Core i9-9900K processor is based on i9-9900K but has been modified to achieve 5Ghz with all cores at the same time and not just a core.

Technically, the processor has a core frequency of 4.0Ghz and works with all existing Core i9-9900K boards. But the latter had a basic frequency of 3.6Ghz.

Currently the company decided to keep silent for TDP and it is not known if it will require more power than the previous model. Intel showed the new chip in Windows Task Manager with all 5Ghz cores.

Huawei is forbidden to use SD and microSD cards

Things are getting worse for Huawei. The company is forbidden to be a member of the SD Association, the SD and micro SD group responsible for standardizing the cards.

Changing status means that Huawei can no longer offer products with the official SDA brand and will be excluded from setting new standards.

SD Association confirmed that Huawei was removed from the group in response to the US executive order. Last week, the US Department of Commerce banned American companies from doing business with Huawei and its 70 subsidiaries.

The company is forbidden to accept equipment and technology but also funding without the approval of the government. New Order joins Truma’s signed ban on using Huawei telecommunications equipment from mobile and landline operators in the US.

Huawei said consumers could buy and use SD cards with existing phones, but it is unknown how this decision will affect Huawei’s future phones and devices.

The latter has tried to distance itself from SD format in favor of Nano memory cards.

Removal from the SD Assocation is definitely a blow to Huawei but very small compared to those of other companies. Google stopped supporting Android while Intel, Qualcomm and AMD disconnected the supply of chips.

Instagram will not only favor vertical videos. The company announced today that the format widely used in IGTV will now support horizontal videos as well.

To date, the company only allowed vertical ones and was the focus feature when it debuted last year. Instagram said the change came after the creators’ feedback because some viewers who found the horizontal videos could not see the full screen.

IGTV (InstagramTV) has found it difficult to make the same impact that TikTok has achieved. A role to play in this regard had vertical videos.

For creators who first publish on YouTube, video editions on IGTV required creating a completely new video of their content or filming them in another format.

Facebook will launch the “GlobalCoin” cryptocurrency in 2020

The coin, called GlobalCoin, would enable 2.4 billion monthly Facebook users to exchange dollars for other international currencies that can then be used to make payments and transfer money without having a bank account.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg last month met with Bank of England Governor Mark Carney to discuss this plan.

Zuckerberg also discussed the proposal “Libra Project” with US Treasury officials and is in talks with several money transfer firms including Western Union to develop in a simple, less costly way for people who want to transfer money.

A report last year said that Facebook is developing a cryptocurrency that would allow WhatsApp users to transfer money.

To make the value of stable cryptocurrency, Facebook plans to link its value to some of the world’s strongest currencies, including the US dollar, the euro and the Japanese yen.

A Facebook movement in financial services has long been expected, especially after employing PayPal president David Marcus. The latter is also a board member of Coinbase, running Facebook’s initiative in the blockchain.

Acer Nitro 5 and Swift 3 Gaming Laptops with Second-Generation Ryzen Processors Launched

Acer has decided not to rely solely on Intel processors for the latest laptops. The company has released versions of the Nitro 5 gaming laptop and the super-slim Swift 3 model with second generation Ryzen processors.

The 15.6-inch Nitro model comes with the 2.3Ghz four-core Ryzen 7 3750H processor and dedicated Radeon RX 560X graphics card.

The 14-inch Swift 3 version has more modest hardware with the 2.3Ghz four-core Ryzen 7 3700U processor and Vega’s integrated graphics card. However, buyers can also choose a dedicated Radeon RX 540X graphics card.

The Laptops do not differ much from the past generation beyond the new processors. The Nitro 5 keeps the 1080p screen and comes with CoolBoost technology to prevent overheating during game sessions.

While the Swift 3 has a 180 degree sliding screen. Acer decided not to talk about configurations, prices or sales dates.

The first Windows 10 update for 2019 arrives: What are the news?

Technically it’s the end of May. So it’s no surprise that Microsoft will begin launching the Major May Update, the 1903 update.

From today, mainstream consumers and business users who want to download and install the update manually can do it from May 21st.

Updating brings some new features. Microsoft gives users more control over their own updates.

Users can stop updating for 35 days in a row. And thanks to a new “Download and Install Now” option, users will not be forced to update automatically.

Those who do not select this option will post install updates until their Windows 10 copy expires.

This is done in order to improve successful installations of upgrades on limited computers by allocating 7GB of space specifically for this purpose.

May update features a feature called Windows Sandbox where Pro, Enterprise, and Education users can open potentially dangerous applications in isolation.

Also a white theme of the operating system is added. Pre-Installed applications installed can be removed. The Start menu has become simpler.

Virtual Assistant Cortana is detached from the search function that Microsoft has completely remodeled.

Microsoft said at the beginning of April that the company would change the way it sends such major updates to improve their quality and avoid catastrophe like that of October. The company will now send these updates for a longer period of time.

Company officials said business customers could start up installations at the end of May. Today is the 21st of May. It’s the date Microsoft will start counting down the 18-month period of service for Windows 10 1903.

Microsoft has also not provided details when 19H2 / Fall 2019 updates will begin shipping. Usually insiders should have access to them right now.

Microsoft bans sales of Huawei laptops

Microsoft has banned sales of Huawei MateBook X Pro laptops in its online stores since the Chinese company was placed on the US government’s blacklist.

The decision comes after rumors that Google would stop using Android and the company’s services for Huawei, reports Telegraph.

However, it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will block Huawei laptop updates with Windows 10 installed.

MateBook X Pro has been removed from Microsoft’s online store over the weekend, whereby the company is obeying US government demands to stop doing business with the company.

The fear that the company can completely block Windows 10 updates is added after this action.

At the end of last week, US President Donald Trump’s Administration placed Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd on the blacklist, promptly enforcing restrictions that would make it extremely difficult for the company to do business with US counterparts.
