Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ officially Launched

8 years ago Galaxy Note is a phone that cannot be ignored. The original model, introduced at IFA 2011, looked huge, full 5.3-inches.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

Nearly a decade on and hundreds of millions of smartphones sold, the line has undoubtedly transformed the way we view and use mobile devices.

Certainly the Stylus pencil has not become an indispensable element for devices other than the Note series, but the entire industry has changed its mind about large screens and productivity thanks to this phone.

Apple also came one day, and today the average screen size of a smartphone is 5.5 inches. With the battle of big screens winning, Samsung has another in hand.

The smartphone market has stalled, even retreating, and for the first time companies have a difficult mission in their hands. How can they make their products constantly compelling?

The problem is that companies have been the ones to set themselves up with shoulder on the wall. Smartphones have become so good that users do not have to switch phones so often. Top models have become very expensive starting at $1,000. Between the S series and the Note Samsung has left a cycle of only six months and these phones are used to bring the latest technologies. Also the differences between them have been eliminated and the S Pen is the only option that changes them.

With the introduction of the Note 10 and Note 10+, Samsung is trying to give users a secondary flagship. Like the S line, the Note is split into two different devices (actually three if we consider the 5G model). The standard Note 10 model took a step back in screen size.

The base model switches from 6.4 to 6.3 inches but why? Samsung believes that a smaller screen makes the device easier to use. But seeing that the Note 10+ has the same size of the Note 9, users immediately realize how compact the Note 10 is.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_5″]

The ratio between the screen and the body of the smartphone is impressive. Today the 5.3-inch is nothing compared to the size of the 2019 screens, but then it was a big step forward.

Perhaps you’ve seen endless leaked images of phones that have proven to be true. It’s a beautiful phone. Samsung has worked harder with the curves, leaving an almost an inexistent frame. The camera cutout on the S10+ has been removed in favor of a small hole in the center of the screen. Samsung said it has given up to a dual selfie camera to upgrade a single camera through software and artificial intelligence.

One very important detail missing is the 3.5mm headphone jack. After making fun of Apple for several years, the company is doing what the iPhone giant did three years ago. Large batteries are back with the 3,500 mAh on the Note 10 and the 4,300 mAh on the Note+.

To help eliminate the 3.5mm headset, Samsung has included a pair of USB-C AKG headphones in the package that will cost you. Also the dedicated Bixby button is no longer available and the virtual assistant can be activated by holding down the power button.

Samsung is still investing in virtual assistant but overall it has reduced the momentum of the early days. On the back of the phone is a 16-megapixel super wide-angle camera, a standard 12-megapixel wide-angle and a 12-megapixel telephoto.

The Note 10+ also adds a Time-of-Flight sensor to add image depth. It’s a small difference between the two phones for the screen and the battery.

The camera software has some interesting extras like bokeh effect on video. Using gyroscope and machine learning, the camera system reduces the vibration in the picture. The TOF sensor brings a 3D camera scanner and users can scan an object and convert it into a moving design element.

Zoom-in Mic is another very interesting option which uses microphones to direct the sound source to the point where you have focused the camera. Night Mode has been added to the 10-megapixel selfie camera for low-light selfie.

The stylus S Pen has adopted a solid unified design. Samsung has made it possible to create customized gestures with this device. DeX continues to be a part of Samsung conferences. The company says the data copying function between Note and a Mac or PC with drag-and-drop has been improved. Still the DeX brand is blurry at this point and looks more like a show than a real product.

Finally inside the Note 10 and Note 10+ you’ll find a Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM on the Note 10 and 12GB of RAM on the Note 10+. Both versions have 256GB of basic storage while the Note 10+ has 512GB.

Orders are open from today, August 8th. The phones are in stores on August 23. The Note 10 starts at $950 and the Note 10+ starts at $1,100. Packaging for today’s orders are even the Charging Duo adapter and the Galaxy Watch Active smartwatch.

A 5G variant of the Note 10+ will also be sold at the same time, though it will be a franchise for operators that have launched 5G in the US or elsewhere in the world. Price for this model was not announced by Samsung.

This camera will shoot pictures that have a resolution of 12,032×9,024 but no other specifics have been released.

“See You Later” writes briefly in an image released by the company, revealing ambitious data for this new camera.

Given that the current cameras, which are located on smartphones, which have a capacity of about 48 megapixels, this camera seems to be extremely powerful and in some form impossible.

This is not the first time that Xiaomi has tested a powerful camera on phones, having successfully tested the 64-megapixel camera, which will be launched later this year as part of a new very good phone.

Confirmed by Samsung, the Note 10 comes in two sizes

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus in New York tomorrow. But if you don’t want to wait until tomorrow to find out more, the Note 10 suffered another leak this time from Samsung’s own marketing materials.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

According to them, the Note 10 will have a 6.3-inch display while the Note 10 Plus will have a 6.8-inch display, both with “hole-punch” cameras. As expected the S-Pen will have some new tricks like gestures in the air and switching from one camera lens to another.

Also Note 10 is supposed to have super fast charging technology which delivers several hours of battery life with just a few minutes of charging.

But marketing materials do not go into details of every specific but says that the Note 10 can capture beautiful portraits, beautiful landscapes and clear photos at close range and at any level of light.

Finally the phones have “Audio Zoom” microphones that will work to hear audio coming from the object you have focused on in the video. LG offered a similar feature to the V30 a few years ago but this Note 10 is expected to perform better.

Huawei’s first Android-alternative phone to comes at the end of the year

A new report says that Hongmeng OS, Huawei’s alternative operating system that should replace Android, may soon be detailed.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

The report comes from China and the state-run media Global Times which should be treated with skepticism but in itself contains some very important details.

First according to the report Huawei will present Hongmeng OS at the developer conference which launches this Friday, August 9th in Dongguan, China.

Huawei developers have said the software is designed for IoT devices and will come first on the company’s smart TVs.

The report compares Hongmeng OS with Google’s Fuchsia operating system, another experimental alternative designed to run on several interfaces.

The Global Times says the Hongmeng OS smartphone is under construction and is currently being tested. The first device should debut alongside the flagship Mate 30 Pro this year with a debut date in the fourth quarter.

It will belong to the lower to middle segment and will cost around $300.

The Huawei Mate 20X has already made its UK debut and will now go on sale in the Chinese market. Huawei actually unveiled another 5G phone earlier this year, the Mate X.

It was the company’s first folding phone that was originally due to launch in the summer. However, Huawei decided to delay the launch of the device in order to make some improvements to the overall durability.

Chinese carriers have already been granted licenses to start their own 5G commercial networks. The company will now start selling their 5G phones as 5G networks come out gradually.

Huawei has begun receiving pre-orders for the Mate 20X in China. It is expected to begin shipping the device on August 16th.

The latest MediaTek processors are built for video games

When we hear the name MediaTek the first thing that comes to our minds are budget gaming smartphones, yet the company is determined to change that perception.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

The chip designer unveiled on Monday the family of Helio G90 processors with features and performance for the latest and most intense games. The G90 and G90T are eight-core processors that use 2.05Ghz Cortex-A76 cores for heavy tasks and Cortex-A55 for light tasks accompanied by Mali-G76 800Mhz graphics and up to 10GB LPDDR4X RAM.

With the use of HyperEngine, G90 chips promise to reduce bottlenecks. Like many phones it uses LTE to assist a problematic Wi-Fi connection. It can also operate two different Wi-Fi bands. MediaTek also promises to reduce touch stoppages, prioritize game processes and resources, and image quality.

Photographers will enjoy up to 64-megapixel camera support. But the company did not specify when the first G90 phones will come and who they are. Indeed, the purpose of MediaTek is to show how powerful its gaming chips such as Fortnite and PUBG are. However they will not be at the level of the best, Apple or Qualcomm.

A fourth camera and carbon fiber has been added to the Huawei folding phone

Samsung has made some improvements in the design of Galaxy Fold, which will be released soon and Huawei seems to have done the same with Mate X.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

Chinese journalist Li Wei had managed to catch Richard Yu’s CEO at the airport and even fired some Mate X phone pictures in the current state with the upgrades made. A fourth sensor is added to the back of the phone, which is most likely the TOF (Time-of-Flight) sensor as well as the carbon fiber effects.

Also, a larger button to open the phone has been added, which will make it easier for Mate X to fold and open.

The problems that emerged from the Galaxy Fold’s first foldable models, prompted Huawei to immediately review Mate X, the screen-folding phone of the Chinese company. The latter collapses on the opposite side of Galaxy Fold, so from the outside. Huawei, like Samsung, has said Mate X debuts in September.

Last month it was said that the phone was in the final testing and there is nothing but hope for the problems to be addressed. The phone will come with the stock version of Android and of course with 5G.

Kuo: All 2020 iPhone models will have 5G network

Although some Android OEMs are beginning to offer smartphones that support 5G networks, Apple is not expected to do so until next year, at least.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

An analyst, who has brought accurate information to Apple’s upcoming moves in many cases in the past, now predicts that the entire iPhone 2020 series will have support for 5G networks.

Ming-Chi Kuo from TF Securities predicts that the three new models of iPhone that Apple will launch next year will have support for 5G networks. He had previously predicted that only two of the three models would receive the 5G modem.

Kuo says Apple is likely to make this decision because of the competition, as some of their Android rivals have brought 5G phones to the market.

Apple has not confirmed anything about their iPhone 2020 until this time. However, it is believed that the three models will display OLED screens in size 5.4 inches, 6.1 inches, and 6.7 inches.
