GMC Hummer EV

The first electric Hummer: Has 1000 horsepower, a powerful car with a modern look

A slightly forgotten SUV with military ‘roots’ is back but in a whole new packaging

It has been almost ten years since the break of production of the civil Hummer. Now we can go back to it because an electric one is coming and therefore socially acceptable.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

It is important that the American power icon be here again. Now a significantly more modern look, with a new front grille and LED lights, GMC has decided to offer the Hummer in the shape of a truck and is aesthetically even closer to the former H2 model. The important thing is that you will know it from a greater distance.

The large tires of this model make this vehicle more pleasing to the eye, but make it fit through difficult terrain. Passes fairly high obstacles and is not afraid of water either.

There are two digital screens in his cabin. The screen in front of the driver is 12.3-inches, and in the middle of an infotainment with a 13.4-inch floating screen. And inside it is the Ultravision environmental monitoring system through cameras, from 18 different images.

The new Hummer has three electric motors and their synergistic effect is really over a thousand horsepower or 1014 horsepower. It reaches speeds from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds. The battery offers a distance of 563 km and can be charged to chargers up to 350 kW. This means that 10 minutes of charging offers a range of about 160 km.

And the price. 1 Edition starts at the end of next year will cost $112,595, and it is expected to be the flagship model. For 2022, another model has been announced that will cost $99,995, with less power (811 horsepower) and a more modest range (483 km).

And that’s not the end, because then there will be a 2X version with an electric motor less (634 horsepower) and a price tag of $89,995. And sometime in 2024, it will also offer a performance of a reduced range of 400 km at a price of $79,995.

The booking list is open, and all you need is to prove your interest with personal data and a $100 payment.

Mercedes EQC 4x4² concept

Mercedes With a EQC 4×4² Electric Concept SUV for “Extreme” Terrains

Based on the production of the EQC SUV and modeled on the famous Mercedes G500 4×4²

Mercedes EQC 4×4² is a concept with which the German manufacturer wants to show that it is capable of making an extreme off-road car and a completely electric car. Following the example of the G-Class 4×4², which was produced a few years ago, the EQC 4×4² is risen by 20cm compared to the regular Mercedes EQC.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Mercedes engineers have applied a recipe similar to the E 400 All-Terrain 4×4² concept. Thanks to some changes, the EQC 4×4² has an airspace of 293 mm, which is 153 mm more than in the regular EQC electric model, but also more than the standard G-Class.

Due to all the above modifications, the machine also became even taller but also wider by 20 cm compared to regular EQC.

The characteristics for the terrain have been significantly improved, and this car already crosses a water barrier with a depth of 40 cm without any problems. The push system has remained unchanged, so this car uses two electric motors. The total combined power is 408 horsepower and 760 Nm of maximum torque. A lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 80 kWh is used to store electricity.

For now, Mercedes does not plan to start mass production of this concept, but it will certainly serve as a starting point for some future electric SUVs of this brand.

Do Electric Cars Save You Money? Yes And No

There’s a lot to love about electric cars. From the smooth and quiet ride to the instant torque and acceleration. Then there is the fact that you are lowering your carbon footprint dramatically when you drive one. Especially if you live in a large metropolis, you can feel good about not adding to the air pollution around you.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Looking at a Tesla Map you can see that there are charging stations just about everywhere so recharging is as convenient as getting gas is in a traditional car.

And if you aren’t filling the tank with gas then it makes sense that they save you money. Or do they? Sure, you save a lot on gas but can that offset some of the other costs? And gas is at historic lows right now so the savings are not as apparent as they were a few years ago.

Electric cars have pros and cons but you do need to look at it realistically to understand if it is worth it to own an EV.

In this article, we will go over some of the things to keep in mind when it comes to electric vehicles and money savings.

High initial cost

Though prices have been falling over the last few years, the cost of electric cars is still higher than the average traditional car in the same class. Almost across the board the EV models cost more.

Since they have no emissions, many governments are trying to encourage people to buy them by offering generous tax cuts. There was a federal tax cut of $7,500 and then whatever local incentives which definitely brings the cost down.

Do the tax breaks bring the price down to be competitive with a gas powered car? Unfortunately, the costs are still going to be higher.

Even leasing costs more even though it is cheaper to get behind the wheel when leasing as opposed to buying. And this is a good option if you want to make sure that the latest tech that emerges every year doesn’t leave you behind in an outdated car.

No paying for gas

Gas prices are at a low not seen in a couple of decades. Right now that means that there isn’t as big a savings on gas as there had been. Although, it is likely a temporary thing. Gas prices are highly dependent on a number of moving parts that are difficult to understand. Which means that we could see those spikes of a few dollars per gallon once again.

And when it does spike, there is almost always a surge in electric car sales along with it. Now, this is one case where electric cars are much cheaper. It doesn’t matter how much you are paying for electricity in your area and how low the gas prices are. Charging is much cheaper than paying for gas.

When gas prices go back up, then you will be even happier than ever that you have an electric car.

The one issue that ends up negating some of the savings on gas is that you have to buy a charging station for your home in almost every case. Unless of course you have a charging station at your work. This can cost a few thousand dollars so your gas savings won’t pay for the installation for a few years.

Maintenance

No oil changes, no filters to change and no wear and tear on engine parts means that maintaining your electric vehicle is very cheap.

Brakes are even more resistant to wear and tear as the engine slows itself down so you don’t need the brakes as much. Similar to how a manual transmission works.

There is one potential caveat to all of this, however. Most batteries are guaranteed for the first 100,000 miles of the car. After that, if a battery stops charging then you will be spending thousands to replace it. Now, this is not very likely to happen quickly after the 100,000 comes and goes, but it does also depend on the model of the car.

For instance, air cooled batteries don’t last as long as liquid cooled batteries. In any case, you should expect your batteries to last quite a while.

Another way that maintenance costs less, is that diagnostics can be done remotely. Your car likely has the computer linked to your dealer and will send reports to their server. When something looks amiss it will send an alert. If there is nothing reported as looking like it requires some maintenance, then you aren’t bringing your car in for routine checkups which save money and time.

VW ID.4 GTX High-Performance EV Spied For The First Time While Being Tested

Volkswagen is continuing to work on expanding its electric cars range

So far, the final version of the Volkswagen ID.4 has not been released, but reporters dealing with new cars have caught it while testing a sporty version of this model.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

Based on previous reports, it was said that Volkswagen is working on a high-performance sports version, called the GTX, while it is believed that this car has just been caught for the first time.

Although Volkswagen has camouflaged itself with a fake grill and fake gas pipes, some changes are still noticeable.

Compared to the ID.4 we’ve seen so far, the peak is higher, which means there’s more interior space, while the expansion of the rear has increased the luggage space. The arm located in the visible part, has given this car a much more sporty look, while in general it looks more like the GTI version, while the X has been added to show that it can be driven with all wheels.

The New York Auto Show, which was due to take place this month, was the event where Volkswagen would present this car with 201 horsepower, while now it is not known when it will be able to present it.

Fiat 500e EV

Fiat adds the electric version of the iconic car, the 500

Fiat is still covering all bases

The Fiat 500 has been an iconic city car since the launch of the new model in 2007, and since then little has changed. But now is the time  to undergo the biggest changes in history: the all-electric 500e model.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

These changes are enough for Fiat to say that this model is the third generation, 500e EV. Its first model was called the Cinquecento and was manufactured between 1957 and 1975 while only in 2007 was introduced its second model, the Fiat 500.

The 500e EV will have a new platform that will make this car 60mm wider and 60mm taller, but again, it will be under four meters tall. The Fiat has not changed the style of the car, although now completely new, according to them, it is seen to be the 500 model.

The Electric 500e will initially only be launched as a convertible model. The standard Fiat 500e will have a 42kWh battery, enough to make 320 kilometers of road with a single charge. Its engine has 117 horsepower, which makes this car to reach speeds from 0 to 100km/h in nine seconds while maximizing it to 150km/h.

The 500e comes with an 85kW DC charger, which makes its batteries charges for 35 minutes at 80%. Fiat plans to launch its 3kW home charger, which does not require an electrician to install.
